How to read this
This ranks what each district would pay a teacher moving in with 10 years of verified experience and a bachelor's degree, from its new-hire placement chart. It is not the average pay of teachers who have worked there 10 years: on performance pay schedules, a teacher's salary depends on the raises they've earned in that district, which aren't published by year of experience.
Some districts credit experience generously; others start nearly everyone at the same salary. Orange publishes minimum salaries by experience rather than exact steps, so its figures are floors. For any number of years, use the salary calculator.
Common questions
How much does a Florida teacher with 10 years of experience make?
At hire in a new district, $48,700 to $65,520 among the districts we track, median $52,334. Teachers who stay in one district may earn a different amount, depending on their raises over the years.
Do Florida districts count out-of-state experience?
Many do, with limits, and each district verifies it before placing you. Lee, for example, credits up to 20 years of combined Florida and out-of-state public school experience. Check the district page and confirm with HR.
