About The Teacher File

Teacher pay is public, but it's hard to read. It lives in salary schedule PDFs, union contracts and board meeting attachments, written for payroll offices rather than the teachers being paid. Ask a simple question like "what would I make if I moved districts?" and you end up comparing scanned tables with different column names, footnotes and rules for who's on which schedule.

The Teacher File turns those documents into pages that answer the questions teachers actually ask: what a district pays to start, what experience and a master's are worth, how raises work, and how one district compares with the next. We're starting with Florida, where every district has two pay systems and many add a voter-approved supplement, and expanding from there.
